October 2021

Hi, I'm Yesenia.
I'm a Visual Designer in Universal City, Texas.
I'm a digitally savvy, tech-loving, self-starting Visual Designer with over 10 years of design experience including client-side, agency, and e-commerce roles. I love problem-solving, user-centered design, and delivering excellence.
In my personal life, I enjoy amateur gardening and growing fruits and vegetables in my garden. When I'm not tending to my plants, I spend time with my special needs autistic stepson, learning from him about the latest version of Doors on Roblox, or playing games that he excels at but I struggle with, in order to encourage him to practice his speech.
My last Role
In my previous role, I held the position of full-time in-house Visual Designer at Dialog Group of Companies, a marketing and strategy firm based in Austin, Texas. As Digital Lead for the Creative Team, I was responsible for all projects related to web, UX, content experiences, digital transformation, and animation.
During my tenure, I earned a reputation for designing high-end, animated PowerPoint presentations that were well-received by both clients and colleagues. In addition to this, I remained engaged with various in-house projects, such as the Dialog site, The Resilient 1, and R1 Store.
While working under the direction of the Creative Director and Executive Creative Director, I was granted full autonomy over most, if not all, of my projects. My responsibilities included presenting designs and prototypes to clients and stakeholders, as well as leading both client teams and in-house teams through UX information architecture exercises, both in-person and online.
I am confident that my previous experience has provided me with the necessary skills and expertise to excel in future endeavors.
design
I am a driven, analytical, and creative individual with a passion for user experience and a clean, modern design aesthetic. I absolutely love technology, strive to stay on top of digital trends, and am always eager to learn and explore new solutions to deliver engaging digital experiences.
Hobbies
I'm an amateur gardener working on my fruit and vegetable garden. My year-round hobbies include writing, tinkering with technology, painting, drawing, hand lettering, various arts and crafts projects, and photography. I also enjoy playing video games on both PC and Nintendo Switch, as well as camping and hiking when the weather permits.
I have a deep love for learning new things and am currently in the process of developing an illustrated surface design collection.
CULTURAL FIT
I'm naturally curious, self-driven, pragmatic, process-oriented, and an excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. I have a knack for problem-solving, thinking outside of the box, and connecting with people. I do great in teams but I also do pretty well on my own.
My close friends describe me as an ambivert but according to Myers-Briggs, I'm an analyst. I tend to march to the beat of my own drum and I love art, music, gaming, sci-fi, and technology.
I'm a cat owner and I love dogs, but I'm currently at pet capacity so I visit my friends' dogs whenever I can.
My first love was print
In school, I was the kid who doodled on the side of all her notes. I found my love for layout when I joined the yearbook in high school at the point where the shift was happening between laying things out on grid paper and loading them into a program from the yearbook vendor that wasn't quite InDesign but worked in a similar fashion.
I've been a Graphic Designer since 2008. While going to design school, I worked for the Staples Print Center, initially in a massive private production center that produced massive print runs and later in smaller retail locations throughout Los Angeles. This position allowed me to really understand the print process, navigate the nuances between laser toner and ink across different print materials, and learn how to design specifically for print.
I've primarily held in-house print design roles, including roles at a PR firm, an ad agency, and an online retailer focusing on lifestyle products. I currently hold a full-time in-house role as a Visual Designer/Digital Team Lead in advertising & marketing.
While with the online retailer, I was relocated to Austin, Texas where I helped establish the design process & workflow for their metallics process and HP Indigo Press. I worked closely with HP Engineers, Print Technicians & Press Operators to create special custom design files & templates for this new print technology. Afterward, I trained the Product Development team on creating these files, a process that is still followed and used today for numerous products
Not long after this project, I crossed from print production design into web & user experience design.
